Drug Rehab : your choice to freedom
Why do people take drugs? To get away from reality – to feel something other than sorrow or just to go with the flow. People take drugs or to be more specific, narcotics for many reasons that we just can’t understand, but the repercussions are always fatal. They hurt themselves, they hurt their love ones. Not to mention the money they spent just to buy the “good” stuff. The thing is that using drugs are bad, no matter how you look it, it’s always bad.
For some fortunate ones that realize the backlash of their doing, they usually go to rehab (rehabilitation facility). Now from what I understand, the addicts themselves or “Junkies” can’t be committed to one of the facilities in coercion, they need to be voluntarily committed which means there will be an Intervention, which I won’t go into that right now.
Types of drug rehab programs
There are many types of drug rehabilitation programs that we can choose, but the philosophies and methods of these rehab programs are different in each center, they usually based their services on the cooperation of the patient, the degree of addiction, the resources they have in hand, but again that all comes to the patient themselves to be healthy and lose their addiction permanently.
In other words, the rate of success is relevant, but essentially the purpose of these facilities is to break the addiction habit that’ve been controlling said patient. In-patient drug rehabilitation is commonly used for detoxing, the patient are constraint inside the facility to receive a rigorous treatment for months, in order to train them, mentally and physically, back into their normal lives.
Outpatient rehabilitation is used when a patient have endure the in-patient program, in which, the patient tries to transition themselves back to the real world. This program needs a full commitment form the patient to come in the facility in regular basis, so the facility and the doctors can monitor the patient progress.
Relapse is the thing that ex-addicts really afraid, to be suck back into the cocaine, marijuana, and all of the chemically dangerous substances that we encounter every day in our lives. This is where a Local Support Group comes in handy. All of the exes can come to this group and tell their stories or what you called sharing. If the temptation gets to big and strong, this group also provides sponsors (the people you call when the addiction is about to surfaces) and also, from what I heard, they usually have some hotlines for these kinds of situations.
Fundamentally, a drug rehabilitation and for that matter, the facility are designed to help people back from their addictive behavior to a normal life (this maybe different for some people, the normal part I mean), by breaking their habits with non-similar approach provided by different facilities. Some of the methods might be irrationally horrifying and from what I heard extremely painful, but we have to understand no matter how hard and painful the treatments are, they’re designed to free the patients from the shackle that is drug addiction.
